My Experience in Gandhi
Journey of an Undergraduate in a medical college!!

FOREWORD

The idea of this book came to me one day, while I was reading a book named “Down the Road”- an eclectic collection of short stories that brings out all those unforgettable, warm thrilling at times embarrassing memories in a college campus.

I recalled with a smile and a feeling of happiness of my entrance into a top medical college in our state, the way I inhabited there, the hands I held while traversing it.

I began to think of the journey of how my life has been in Gandhi- the new acquaintances I made, the unusual paths I have traveled, the things I have seen and the events I have been part of.

And I began to wonder if these memories and experiences would just stay with me or if I just share them with my numerous cohorts and cronies, whose count has grown as large as the abundant roots of an enormous banyan tree.

When I wrote my first memoir about my life in Gandhi, I had wondered how it would interest anyone. Nevertheless, “My Experience in Gandhi” paints a delightful picture of life and times in a medical college in an intriguing way.

This book focuses more on the smaller, lesser known happenings in my life. My parents role in making me learn the importance of understanding people’s minds or facing their difficulties, helped in battling various odds in myself. I also felt compelled to record in detail the contributions of various remarkable persons I met here. I mentioned the openness and the outlook of my mentors who encouraged me at various phases.

Instances such as my failures, the other adversities I have been witness to, have all brought home to me the necessity of setbacks in one’s life. Yes, they seem insurmountable at the time, but there is really no difficulty which one cannot overcome if there is determination in the heart.

I hope this book for sure will strike the right chord in the readers.
